Eid 2019: Great time with Fam

I haven’t been writing on this blog since forever but I feel the urge to write tonight as I am feeling a bit emotional that my summer break in Malaysia is coming to an end in about a week or so. Eid this year, was…AMAZING. Beyond words! Last year, my sister and I spent our eid in the UK, away from our family which was a bit sad tbh because it was my first eid without my parents around and it definitely felt so empty and…sad. Nonetheless, we did had a great time last year, we even went to Cornwall on the first day of Eid haha.

This year I decided to come home earlier for Eid, I arrived in Malaysia on the 2nd of June 2019, which was about three days before Eid. The journey from the UK to Malaysia felt so long, it probably was more than 24 hours! My family, being sweet and thoughtful as they have always been, threw a surprise for me at the airport, hehe. My cousins, nieces and nephew came to fetch me at the airport, with a bouquet of flowers.

Maryam (my niece) was actually really sweet, when she saw me at the airport, she came to me and immediately hugged me and said ‘Maryam rindu Achik Nini‘. That almost made me cry, gosh. My mom baked me a cake, which was then decorated by my twin cousins!

The following consecutive nights were filled with family activities, which was so fun cause I haven’t been joining such sessions with my family for such a long time, my auntie and uncle came around, we did hennas together and we also had a barbecue fun time.

After I moved to study in the UK, I came to appreciate family gatherings more than I used to tbh. I now loveeee nights like these, free of stress and filled with love.

On the first day of Eid, which was on the 5th of June 2019, we honestly did not do much, we just ate a lot of ketupats and rendang. Usually, my parents and I will go back to our hometown the night before Eid so we rarely spend our Eid in Alor Setar (which is where we live), but this year, our celebration is a lil bit different because all my siblings were around! We spent the first day in Alor Setar, went to mosque and had a photoshoot of the whole family in front of our house. It was freakin hot, we were sweating so bad haha.

Here are some of shots that we took.
